Yes. Theiss Care offers ongoing maintenance and care programs designed to keep your landscape healthy and attractive throughout the year. These programs can include routine maintenance, seasonal pruning, fertilization, and proactive plant health care.

Your first professional maintenance visit is typically recommended within 4–6 weeks after installation, once plants have had time to settle in. This allows for light pruning, adjustments, and early issue identification.

Watering needs vary based on plant type, soil, weather, and whether your landscape is newly installed or established. In general, deep, infrequent watering is better than light, frequent watering because it encourages deeper root growth and improves drought tolerance. Newly installed plants need more consistent moisture while they establish. Established plants typically do best with a deep soak once or twice a week rather than daily watering.

Please note: We do not provide specific watering schedules or timing advice, as this can vary greatly depending on your exact situation. Towards the end of completion of your project, your CSM will schedule a final walk with you. During your final walk, the CSM will provide you with a moisture meter, free of charge, and teach you how to use it for monitoring the watering habits.

Some plants need more care than others based on how they grow, their seasonal needs, or sensitivity to weather. Newly installed plants require closer monitoring as their roots establish. Flowering plants, ornamental grasses, and specialty or accent plants may need occasional pruning, fertilizing, or seasonal adjustments to look their best. Our team designs landscapes with these needs in mind and is happy to help identify any areas that may benefit from extra care or attention.

Fertilizing: Most plants benefit from their first fertilization after they’ve had time to settle in, usually 6–8 weeks after installation. This helps support healthy growth without stressing newly planted roots.

Pruning: For most shrubs and plants, wait until they are fully established, typically after the first growing season. However, some plants may need light shaping sooner. Your Customer Success Manager or our office can advise based on your specific landscape.

Preparing your landscape ahead of extreme temperatures helps protect plants and reduce stress. For extreme heat, ensure plants are well established, properly mulched, and monitored for stress. For freezes, covering sensitive plants, protecting exposed irrigation components, and avoiding pruning before a freeze can help limit damage.

During a freeze alert, protect sensitive plants, avoid pruning, and adjust irrigation as needed. For heavy rain events, avoid foot traffic on saturated soil and monitor for pooling water or drainage concerns once conditions improve.

Temporary leaf drop, yellowing, or slowed growth after installation or during temperature swings is normal and is known as transplant shock. These signs can also indicate improper watering. If you notice them, contact your Customer Success Manager and share photos so we can advise. Sudden collapse, severe wilting despite proper watering, or visible pest damage should be reported promptly.
